Mark 2:15 (KJV) And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they FOLLOWED him.FOLLOWED HIM: Yes, Jesus ate with sinners, but why were the sinners there?The scriptures says, “They f o l l o w e d him”. They were not following him just to hang out, drink and party. They were eating with him to learn, so Jesus made himself available unto them. Mark 2:16 (KJV) And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?MISTAKE: Those Pharisees, Scribes and Publicans, who were found within the religious system, only hung out with each other. Instead of ministering to others, they just hung out together and became critical of others who didn't meet their personal standards. Therefore, when Jesus heard it, he said: Mark 2:17 (KJV) When Jesus heard [it], he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but s i n n e r s to repentance.NO NEED: The r e l i g i o u s will never see the need for repentance! The religious will hate the doctrine of repentance! The religious will misrepresent repentance!Those who r e c o g n i z e their sinfulness will flock to Jesus. Those who refuse to r e c o g n i z e Jesus will a l w a y s be worried about those who eat with Jesus.
