6/2/2019 - Argiope aurantia (a.k.a. yellow garden spider or writing spider). In the last 14 years, since we have lived here, this is only the 2nd time I've seen one of these spiders around here. This is a small one on the edge of the woods. They get just as large or larger than a banana spider. Both types of spiders are good to have around.Hoo Hoo Acres, Southeast Texas
