Adversity & Prayer
Jeremiah 33:1-3
“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Jeremiah 33:3 is a great promise of prayer and as Christians we love to quote it. But I am afraid that we forget that when Jeremiah received this promise from the LORD he was “shut up in the court of the prison”. Our hard and adverse circumstances of life often lead us to pray more fervently than normal. That is not a rebuke, but me stating a fact of truth. When we find ourselves in a bind we often pray more fervently, looking for God to do what only He can do. I am grateful for the promise of God that we can call upon Him and He will show us great and mighty things we did not know could be!
Ephesians 3:20-21 is another promise of prayer, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
Dear Christian friend are you under duress?
Call unto God!
It is possible He will show you great and mighty things, exceeding abundantly above all that you ask!
