The Israeli banner on the murder of the Bibas children translates to: “The vengeance for the blood of a small child has not yet been created by the devil.” This is a reference to a famous line from Chaim Nahman Bialik’s poem On the Slaughter, written in response to a pogrom against Jews in the early 20th century. Jewish children have been so often the victims of hate that there is a poem for the sorrow. That part strikes me as much as the senseless slaughter itself.
