USS San Jacinto (CVL 30), named after the famous battle between Texans and Mexican forces in 1836, was commissioned #OTD in 1943. The most famous person to serve on board the ship was future President of the United States George H.W. Bush, who flew TBF/TBM Avenger torpedo bombers in VT-51.
