The End Of The FoolishProverbs 9:13-18“A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, To call passengers who go right on their ways: Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.”In our text there is depicted both the foolish and simple. Both the woman and the man are foolish and simple. In the book of Proverbs these terms usually describe people who live in lust and for the sins of fornication and adultery. Their mind is devoid of any righteous discernment, understanding, and wisdom. They find it pleasing and get a thrill out of the secrecy of their sinful ways. They have lost all sense and perception that there will be consequences for their sinful choices. For the two in our text they lost the knowledge that their choice of sin will lead them to death and hell. There is nothing beautiful about sin and the end thereof. The only hope for any sinner is found in Jesus Christ and the salvation He alone provides.Romans 5:8-9“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
