Loneliness
Psalms 142:4
“I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.”
When David wrote this verse he was hiding out in a cave with about 400 other men, who had chosen to be with him. It is interesting how the horror of loneliness can grip a person even among so many. Personally, I believe such is the work of Satan. For David to feel the way he did among so many is one thing, but for him to feel that way as a child of God lets me know that his faith is trying to fail him. I do not say that in a rebuking manner, because it can and most likely has happened to all of us. Our faith can fail us, but God is ever with us as He promised (Matthew 28:20; Hebrews 13:5).
David’s dilemma has left him feeling overwhelmed (v. 3).
Giving credit to where it is due, David shows us the way out of such holds.
Cry out to God!!
Psalms 142:5
“I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.”
Dear Christian friend, in your times of loneliness and doubt take refuge in the truth that our Lord is very near. Cry out to Him!
He will attend unto your prayer and will bring you out.
