#Repost///@bangersmodified: It’s a bold thing to say we’ve found the coolest Ford on the internet, but for us it’s hard to see what’s more interesting than a 1930 Ford Model A sedan that was converted into something more akin to an SUV tractor when it was only three years old. At least, that’s what we’ve been able to ascertain from the somewhat blurry photo of a typewritten letter of provenance from one of this vehicle’s previous owners.For starters, any Ford Model A sedan in somewhat original condition is just a neat thing to find. This particular vehicle was originally purchased by an older couple with no children, who eventually sold it to Pontiac auto dealer, T. J. Penney in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, who in turn sold it in 1939 to Allen Cooper for the enormous sum of $100. Cooper used the Ford sedan on his rural mail route for three years until he converted it into what you see here. In addition to cutting the sedan body up and building a plywood cargo area with plywood cargo doors, the 1941 conversion also addressed Cooper’s needs in traversing the unimproved Wisconsin rural back roads on his mail route. A pair of modified Ford truck wheels were fitted with tractor tires, and additional springs on the rear provided clearance between the tires and the highly customized rear fenders. The front looks like it’s been lifted for ground clearance by flipping the front beam axle upside down. The original four-cylinder engine would stand little chance providing enough oomph to spin those monster tractor tires, so from what we can glean from the letter of provenance, the torque tube connecting the rear axle to the drivetrain was cut out so a granny-geared four-speed with a (by today’s standards) conventional driveshaft could be installed.
