What Could Have Been-Wasting The Blessings Of God1 Chronicles 29:25“And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.”It is obvious to me that the LORD heavily favored Solomon. When Solomon was born, we note that he was the first born son of David and Bathsheba that lived. Remember, their relationship began in adultery and in or through that adultery, they had a child. That child died through the judgment of God (2 Samuel 12). The judgment and chastisement of God because of sin is never pretty, but God is just and righteous. David and Bathsheba were married, and had a second child. They named him Solomon. The Bible tells us the LORD loved Solomon and called him Jedidiah (2 Samuel 12:24, 25). The name Jedidiah means beloved of the LORD. The LORD greatly blessed Solomon’s reign as king. If you study his life and reign you know that Solomon had a down fall. His down fall was women and they turned his heart away from the LORD (Nehemiah 13:26, 1 Kings 11:1-4).Why God blessed Solomon the way He did can only be explained in one word, GRACE.Let us not excuse Solomon’s sins, because the LORD didn’t excuse them. Solomon had to face the chastening hand of God often. But, I have to imagine in my heart where Solomon could have been had he not wasted the blessings of God’s grace in his life.
