Paul Morris (Member 57,896) works on NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope project, which has been photographing stunning intergalactic clouds known as nebulae for almost 35 years. During the last service mission just under 16 years ago to repair and upgrade Hubble, one of the astronauts took this photo, which Paul shared with us. It shows swirling Stratocumulus cloud vortices off the north-west coast of Africa caused by low-level winds passing over the Cape Verde islands. The astronaut managed to include part of Hubble in the corner of the shot – as if the Space telescope, a veteran extra-terrestrial cloudspotter, has taken a selfie with the swirling sky below.
