I am incredibly honored to be working with RFK Jr. as the incoming head of Health and Human Services to try and end the fen*ta*nyl epidemic. He is making fen*ta*nyl a TOP priority. It's kind of a funny story how this all happened. We sort of had a fiasco trip for the Inauguration where we were sponsoring the MAHA Ball. We didn't even arrive in D.C. until 3AM on Monday due to weather - had to be at the MAHA Watch Party by 11AM. As many of you know, probably 85-90% of D.C. roads were not just blocked by military and police, but also fenced off to where you couldn't walk. After the watch party, it took us a mile walk in negative wind chills to get to an area Ubers could go, and about 2 hours to make it back to our hotel. We were just 6 miles away. As I had to be on the MAHA Inaugural Ball stage and media interviews at 5:20, we left our hotel at 3PM for the ball. Thinking the streets opened, we were fully dressed in formal attire for the ball. Streets weren't open at all and everyone had to walk at least 1 mile in black tie attire to whatever ball they were going to. It was far colder and more windy than before. I made it to the Waldorf at 5:23 a red faced, runny nosed, wind blown mess and had to immediately record interviews. The ball was amazing and an epic success for everyone involved however, you guessed it. Roads remained closed and nobody could leave the Waldorf in a vehicle unless you walked 1.6 miles to an area where you could get an Uber. Then Uber and Lyft put an order restriction in place for all of D.C. Metro. We didn't get back to our hotel until 5AM. Finally getting about 90 minutes of sleep, I get woken up by Secret Service calling me. I had already missed two earlier calls and texts because I was so tired... The calls were Kennedy's advance team telling me they had a meeting request from RFK Jr and to head towards Dupont Circle and I'd get a location 20 minutes before the meeting. We rush to Dupont Circle to a restaurant that is closed, with RFK Jr. sitting in the back, facing the door. He's the only person there besides 2 restaurant staff, and 2 of his security team. He was incredibly gracious. He smashed some guacamole and chips while discussing how he plans to use our tests in the administration. He offers to write letters to all 50 governors asserting they stop utilizing harm reduction tests with fatal cutoff levels and that require dilution, and to recommend they only use our tests. He discusses an initiative to legalize test strips in the 8 states they are still illegal, including Texas. He states his plans for mass education and awareness on the dangers of illicit fen*ta*nyl, down to the local level. He tells me about cartels again being deemed terrorist organizations and that they're pushing for the most severe punishments for drug/fent dealers. He tells me he is so sick and bothered by seeing people die, especially children. He called ME into a meeting to tell little ole' me all of this. He then took my fiancé's phone and started snapping selfies to commemorate our meeting. He is making fent his top priority. He is truly with us, and heartbroken for all of the loss, poisonings and murders. I really do have hope that big changes are coming and that they're making savings lives their no. 1 initiative.
