1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:DEVOUR: The devil is always l o o k i n g for a pawn to make moves on his part, why? He can do nothing without a person who will listen to him over listening to God. The sin of Adam and Eve play out every day. God says, don't eat, the serpent shows up and contradicts what God has said. Therefore, the pawn provides us a simple imagery of what the devil needs to move about within a church, family or among friends. The pawn is the most simple piece found in the game of chess, but if used properly, it creates havoc on the chess board.The common church member might be seen as a pawn in their church, and not the bishop, king, rook, etc., but be that pawn who protects and not the pawn that creates havoc within a church or a family.Once you've created h a v o c within the church or your family then the stain you've left with others are undeniable, painful and others suffer while you continue to be the pawn in the hands of the devil.
