11/19/2017 - Smart Weed...part of the Buckwheat Family - These little beauties started showing up in my chicken yard around the middle of October (2017), for the first time ever, and are still going strong in the middle and end of November. They have completely taken over, even starting to spill over into the yard, which I don't mind. They really are so beautiful!A little research shows they are a spring, summer and fall flower here in Southeast Texas. The seeds are food for songbirds and wild fowl. Chickens are considered fowl, aren't they? But they aren't wild. I wonder if they know they are supposed to be eating the seeds from this FREE food source and saving me some money?Hoo Hoo Acres, Southeast Texas
