THE TRACT THAT STOPPED A SUICIDE AND SAVED A SOUL I can't recall the time and place, but I tell a story many years ago that went something like this . . .A man had been out knocking on doors and witnessing with various responses, including one door that opened just enough for a hand to come out and a voice that said, "Give it to me." So, he put a tract in the hand and left.Shortly afterwards, he went into a local cafe and sat at the lunch counter to have his meal. While eating, he noticed that the cafe's radio was tuned-in to a local Christian station. Before finishing his meal, the radio announcer came on air to say that a man had just walked into the station and felt the need to give his new salvation testimony. The man gave his name and started speaking . . ."Yeah, I've had some pretty hard times lately, and I had decided that the best solution was suicide. So I went up into the attic at my home, tied a belt around a rafter, stood on a box, and was about put the belt around my neck and jump off. Then someone knocked at the door. I waited for a minute, thinking they would go away, but they kept knocking. I figured it best to get rid of them, so I went down to the door, stuck my hand out, took their brochure and closed the door. I put the paper in my pocket and returned to complete my suicide. I stood back on the box, put the belt around my neck and started to jump. Then I became curious about the brochure. So I pulled it out of my pocked and was quite taken by the words, "WHERE WILL YOU BE FIVE SECONDS AFTER YOU DIE?" So, instead of ending my life, I began a NEW life in Jesus Christ!"Never doubt the power of God's word! (I Pet. 1:23; Isa. 55:11)
