"THE PERFECT GIFT FOR EVERYONE" "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:15)During the next few days, and probably the rest of the week, people will be giving gifts to and getting gifts from family members and close friends. Many hours, weeks, yea, even months will have been spent in coming up with just the "right gift" for that special someone and tender words of gratitude will be expressed as those gifts are given. Over 2000 years ago, God knew exactly the "Right Gift" to give, for it was the Gift that each and every one of us needed and it was the greatest Gift He had. Some swaddling clothes for wrapping His Gift were secured, and that evening, God Himself carefully observed those tiny little clothes for the Babe of Bethlehem, with all of Heaven's angels watching, when His Beloved Son was laid in that Manger. Oh, the greatest gift this ole World could ever receive was wrapped in Humanity and clothed with Holiness!The cross stood beside the cradle that long ago night and it continues this very hour proclaiming that ever-powerful message of God's gift of grace and mercy with that tag, that includes all and excludes no one, which reads, "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:15-16) The loving heart of this Great Giver of ours is what makes that Gift of His Son so dear and so precious! The Bible tells us, "Unto you therefore which believe he is precious:" (1 Peter 2:7a) Precious indeed in the way He lived for us, loves us, and leads us.What words then can we possibly utter regarding this Precious Gift? Do any of us possess the vocabulary to rightly define what the Lord has accomplished for us from the very depths of His heart? Well folks, the only word I can muster up is that which the Word of God declares, "UNSPEAKABLE." Oh, let's continue to carry on for Christ while crying out with those words from Scripture, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift."Friends, the greatest gift that was ever wrapped was God's gracious gift of salvation to all who would receive it by faith. And by faith, do we also LIVE (Romans 1:17), WALK (2 Corinthians 5:7), and STAND (2 Corinthians1:24). And by that same faith, we have been freely JUSTIFIED (Romans 3:28). Praise God for our Great Giver!
