PREACHING WITH A SEARED CONSCIENCE The apostle Paul placed a heavy emphasis on the conscience and on how vital it is for the Christian, preachers especially, to maintain a strong, healthy and holy conscience. His conviction is well stated in Acts 24:16: " And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men." I thank God for every good and decent preacher that we still have, but they are becoming few and far between. Being a Christian and being involved in ministry work, I can honestly say that I have crossed paths with many preachers who seemed to have no conscience at all. Things that would keep you and I awake at night were the very things that some of them took great delight in and celebrated. I try not to dwell on it and cast unnecessary judgment, but I sometimes wonder if some of them are even saved. I truly believe that if the Lord ever adds up all their converts and members and then subtracts their fake converts AND the souls that their cunning ways have turned from Christ, they will find themselves "wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Rev. 3:17). If you have a good and honorable preacher, love him and pray for him. If you don't, find one while you still can.
