Kiss The Son!The second Psalm is purely messianic.Psalms 2:6-7“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.”As you can see these verses, without debate foretell of the birth of Jesus Christ as both the King and the only begotten Son of God! The Psalm begins by asking two questions. Psalms 2:1“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?”What are the heathen raging about? What is the “vain thing” they imagine? It is the fact that they are setting themselves against and taking counsel against the LORD (Psalm 2:2). From heaven God laughs at such imaginations (v. 4).Who in the earth really believes they can stop God?!When the King and Son comes their nonsense will end!But how will He come?He came the first time as the only begotten Son of God, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. He was crucified, buried, risen the third day, and ascended back unto the Father. But Revelation 19:16 states He is returning as “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS”!!What should be our reaction?Psalms 2:12 gives us the answer; “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”As we continue to approach the Christmas season may our hearts rejoice in the truth that Jesus is both the only begotten Son and King! The present day efforts of the heathen to stop God are futile! The Son came and the King is coming!
