2. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.3. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.4. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.Psalm 18:2-5 The psalmist sings this song to God. You can see the personal relationship. He says, I will love you, Lord, I will trust you Lord. The psalmist is praising God for past victories. Where God was his strength helping him defeat his enemies. His rock, his firm foundation. His fortress, his place of safety. His deliverer, his way of escape from danger. His God, the One who put strength in his soul. His shield, protecting his head and heart. His horn, his defense from any foe. His high tower, able to see the enemy from a far distance, being out of their reach. This is what compelled him to sing praises to God. All these things God did for David, He will do and be whatever is needed for those who love Him. Christ is the same for David, as He was here on earth, as He is in heaven. He is here today for you. All who believe and trust in Christ will never be disappointed. Amen.
