"IF YOU PROFESS CHRIST, YOU ARE SAVED"
Those words obviously aren't mine, but are instead those of an empty believist who apparently thinks that an empty profession is all that is necessary for salvation. In opposition to one of my posts, his exact words were, "If you profess Christ you are saved, not by works as posted."
I have NEVER posted that anyone is saved by works, only that they will bear some fruit, if they are saved (II Cor. 5:17; Mat. 3:8-10; 7:20, etc.) The fact that these people have to LIE about the writings of others is very suspicious.
Another empty believist claimed that Paul never mentions producing fruit as evidence of salvation, that only Jesus and John said that in another dispensation, and we must "rightly divide" in order to understand the issue. What he really meant was that he IGNORES all the places where Paul DID emphasize fruit and then runs from the issue while playing the "D" (dispensation) card. Thankfully, most folks have better sense and are not falling for such trickery.
The notion that Paul didn't agree with John and Jesus about fruits meet for repentance is ridiculous. Here are seven quick places where Paul agreed with them perfectly:
"But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance." (Acts 26:20)
"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." (Titus 1:16)
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (II Cor. 5:17)
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Eph. 2:8-10)
"We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth." (Col. 1:3-6)
"What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." (Rom. 6:21-22)
"For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God." (I Ths. 1:8-9)
An unchanged man is an unsaved man. That's Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and it has nothing to do with dispensations or rightly dividing. If the spirit that you received when you were converted has not changed you, then you have an UNCLEAN spirit, not the Holy Spirit. You need to repent and truly receive Christ before you end up in Hell with your fake profession (Mat. 7:22-23).
