4. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.6. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:7. But if we walk in the light, as he is in light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.1 John 1:4-8 In ten verses, John has revealed what is needed to have a productive relationship with Christ. We must trust that Jesus is God and eternal. John says believe, because he has seen Him, touched Him, and heard Him. All have been invited to this relationship. The result of this relationship is joy. It is not a burden, just the opposite. Christ came to deal with sin, and we are sinners. To say we are not makes us liars, adding sin to sin. When we are aligned with Christ, we will be in tune with believers in Christ. This is the crossroads we all come to. Will we follow Christ and receive pardon and forgiveness. Or will we continue on the road to destruction. John speaking, what he learned from Jesus, if we confess to Jesus our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteous. Only through Christ have we access to heaven. Amen.
