"CLOTHED WITH HUMILITY" "And being found in fashion as a man, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." (Philippians 2:8) (caps mine)The Lord Jesus is the Master Teacher, the supreme Example of humility and lowliness of heart. And that is something we need to ever be learning. For He not only taught humility, but His whole life wrought it wherever His steps led Him.Watch the lowly Nazarene rise from supper, lay aside His garments, take a towel, gird Himself, and then proceed to wash His disciple's filthy feet. Look at the Father's Only Begotten Son of God, Who, though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor, that we through His poverty might be rich. Hear Jesus, Who, became poor for our sakes, say one day, "...The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."In the garden, behold Him as He falls on His face and hear Him cry, "...O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."Again. we find Him as the 4 Gospels come to a close stripping off one robe of honor after another till, we finally see Him hanging naked, beaten and bruised at Calvary pouring out His life-giving blood. From there, they carry Him penniless as He was, to a borrowed tomb. Oh, how very low our Saviour made Himself so that you and I would one day dwell forever on High with Him.Folks, when we prayerfully consider His gracious sacrifice, a greater awareness of our own sin and the guilt He willingly bore should indeed humble us in every area of our lives. Mark it well my friends, pride cannot reign in the breast of those who have knelt at the foot of the Cross! Just linger there for a while, if you will all Christ-like followers.....................then rise by the Power of the Holy Spirit as He did and emulate those three gracious little words daily, "HE HUMBLED HIMSELF."
