I have this problem too. It's tough to decide which of the four duplicates I should delete and the same after that and after that.....LOL.

I downloaded an app a couple of years ago called Safe Gallery, that's where I put my pictures in. And you can create folders on it. It's a free download I would recommend it to free up your phone pictures, I have about 500 pictures on it.
