Ps. 100:3 “Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
Worry and anxiety come from the failure to grasp this simple verse. We don’t appreciate who God is and fail to trust in His all-consuming sovereignty in our lives. Things happen for a reason but are never sent to us by God because He seeks to hurt us. It is always to help us, even in the long run. All sin is self-induced. Psalm 121:3 says, ‘He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber nor sleep.’
We also know He is the creator. He has designed us not just for this life. We suffer in it, but all suffering is temporary. He has designed us for glory. Our simple reasoning cannot be compared to His eternal purpose for us. We are not the ones who direct our lives; He is. We should never be left to our devices but trust in God’s eternal plan.
Then we are His sheep as His people. We bask in the boundaries of His word and will for our lives. There is more freedom there than in the bondage of sin. As long as we trust in the shepherd and follow Him, we are safe from all the dangers of life. When we wander off, we become prey for wild animals, thieves, and robbers. The roadmap is the Bible. The shelter is the church assembled with God’s people. The Shepherd always leads the path as we trust in Him and follow His direction no matter where He leads. That’s our duty, and that’s our calling.”
