USS Midway (CV-41) ??
Leading aircraft carrier of its kind and the third ship to bear this name in honor of the Battle of Midway. Assigned a week after the end of the II GM, the Midway was the largest ship in the world until 1955, due to its size it could not pass through the Panama Canal.
He was on duty for 47 years, watching action in the Vietnam War and being the flagship in the Persian Gulf in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm. He was discharged in 1992 and is currently a museum ship in San Diego, California, it is the only remaining American aircraft carrier from the II GM era that is not an Essex class.
