THE SECRET OF THE GIANT WALLS...Giant walls, consisting of blocks weighing several dozen tonnes, moved 3,500 metres high, moved by a people who, according to the archaeologists' reconstruction, should not have had draught animals such as bulls or horses. Since only small shrubs grow in the Andes, this people did not possess strong ropes, and probably did not even use the wheel for transport. How did they do it?..These are questions that have been rattling around in the minds of archaeologists studying the Sacsayhuamán site in Peru for decades. But perhaps today we have discovered how they did it....Researchers from prestigious universities in Central and South America recently took up the challenge and analysed the 'rocks of the giants' of Sacsayhuamán. And, incredible to say, they discovered that they are synthetic rocks, or 'geopolymers'. This would mean that the builders would not have moved any rocks. Rather, they would have calmly transported thousands and miles of sacks of 'ingredients' to make the synthetic rocks directly on site. Then they would mix all the ingredients, and the rock, as if by magic, would form before their eyes. This process of making a 'geopolymer' is absolutely scientific, and perfectly feasible. Provided you have the technology and the knowledge of chemistry to do it....In recent years, some world-renowned researchers have discovered that the cladding covering Snefru's Rhomboid Pyramid is not made of limestone, but of 'synthetic' rock, or geopolymers. The same has been discovered about some blocks of the Great Pyramid of Giza: they are not limestone, they are 'geopolymers'. (Note: a geopolymer is different from 'Roman cement', or mortar, because it is as hard as real rock)....A reflection. We have only been making geopolymers since 1950. But then what knowledge of chemistry did these manufacturers possess, if they managed to do so millennia before us? Where did they come from?
