The Desire Of The True Pastor1 Timothy 3:1“This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.”What is desire? This word here means "to reach out for or to stretch one’s self up towards. It means to long for." On this 3rd Sunday in October I remind you that this month is pastor appreciation month. I cannot speak for every pastor but I do personally know many pastors who have the desire that 1 Timothy 3:1 speaks about. With many of these men their desire is more than just a desire to be a pastor of a church. Their desire is for that church or people who make it up to walk with Christ, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to fully give themselves over to God for the cause of Christ. They desire for those in their church who are married to have a strong, Christ honoring marriage. They desire all of God’s best for all the families of their church. They desire the church they pastor to “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel…”. They desire revival in their church for those who are not close to or serving God as they once were. They desire a Great Awakening to take place in America. And they desire lost people to be saved. Such pastors are out there in the body of Christ and I am glad I know several of them. I believe that such men of God deserve our appreciation. May I encourage you to let your pastor know that you appreciate his “labour of love”! God’s blessings!
