How Did God Deal With Saul’s Sin Of Pride?1 Samuel 15:24-26“And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.”After the prophet Samuel confronted King Saul of his sin, Saul spoke like he was confessing, seeking pardon of his sin, and return to worship. But, can’t you sense the arrogance in Saul’s words?Do we not see he blamed the people instead of taking responsibility and accountability for his own sin?In a sarcastic tone, Saul was like,“Ok, I sinned. The people made me do it! Make a sacrifice and let’s worship the LORD.” But the holy man of God, Samuel would have nothing to do with his arrogant and prideful ways. Samuel was through with Saul because God was through with Saul. Saul had sinned himself out of God’s will for his life. You might remember that it was the LORD who chose Saul to be the first king of Israel (1 Samuel 9). And now Saul’s heart was filled with pride and arrogance. God has rejected him from being king over His people Israel. Sad is the story of any person’s life who once was chosen of God, walked in His ways, but lifted himself up in pride to only be disqualified and rejected of God’s will. I believe God had high hopes for Saul. I believe He was very gracious and patient with Saul. But there came the day that his pride led to his own demise.Galatians 6:7“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
