Where Are They Today?
Matthew 11:21-24
“Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.”
When one looks to find information about the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, or Capernaum all they find are historical facts. Today those cities are gone, nothing left but memories and ruins. They were judged by Christ because they would not believe in Him after hearing Him teach and seeing and being a part of so many mighty works. Jesus had made Capernaum His ministry home.
Why did people who were given so much access to so so much Light reject that Light?
I believe the answer is given in John 3:19-20 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
The hatred and rejection of Christ we see by many today is evident. But what makes it very sad is when that hatred and rejection comes from those to whom have been given much Light in their lifetime.
But what is worse, a city turned to ruins or one who after given much Light still rejected Christ and is sentenced at death to hell for all eternity?
