"WHAT CAUSES YOU TO STAND FOR GOD?" "And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?" (1 Samuel 17:29)The story of David and Goliath is not only one of the most famous confrontations to read in the Scriptures; it's also one of the most familiar. When it comes to sporting events, some people like me, enjoy rooting for the underdog, and young David, the shepherd boy, certainly looked like the underdog that day in the Valley of Elah.On one side stood that giant warrior Goliath mocking the army of Saul and the God of Israel. While doubtless there were some that day who didn't like his verbal abuse, yet none were willing to stand up to the savage bullying of that big oaf. But on yonder side, was a young ruddy-faced lad named David, who answered the call of a Champion for God, and stood up to the plate and swung away with those words, "Is there not a cause?"What a scene that must have been, David against Goliath! By the world's standards, this had all the makings of being a colossal mismatch. Yet, what's often left out when the story is taught is the one thing that gave David the strength and courage to stand against such insurmountable odds. Now, what was it that inspired David's courage? What drove him to march forward when everyone else laid around there like a shivering wet pup? I'll tell you exactly what it was. It was the realization that there was a cause greater than Goliath, greater than Israel, and greater than David's own life. The cause David was consumed with is the same cause that should consume all of us, that being the Glory of God!Are we willing to stand, like young David, in the face of terrifying assaults and tremendous pressures from those who hate God? Oh, would that we had more of Davids bravery in our in our homes, in our schools, in our offices, in our factories, in our government officials, who are willing to stand up against the enemies of the righteousness. We find, in every generation past, there was a remnant of men and women who were committed, above all else, to the Glory of God and His Name.Friends, how about our present generation? Will we stand like David did, with a cause in our heart, or will we melt into the crowd and continue to listen to the cat calls from those growling giants of godlessness

It is important to mention that one cause there exploited by David was the arrogance of Goliath not wearing a helmet that day on the fight.
The photo on the post does not do justice to that account of the story.
And the portraying of David as a plebe does not do justice to the story of David.
