The Pride Of Your PowerLeviticus 26:19-21“And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.”This is the first time we find a reference to the word “pride” in the Bible. God is giving a great warning to His people of what will take place if they turn to idolatry and rebel against His commandments. He is assuring them that He will break the pride of their power.Our pride can keep us from seeing what God wants us to be. It can cause us to sin and keep us in our sin. Pride can keep us from humbling ourselves before God. It can destroy one’s marriage. It can divide the relationship between parent and child. Pride can split a church family. Pride can keep us from getting right with God. It can keep us from having victory over a particular sin. And one’s pride can keep them from getting saved.But remember God can do what is needed to break the pride of our power! And He can be justified in doing whatever it takes to do so!James 4:6, 10“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble…. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
