Going Through The Motions Of WorshipProverbs 21:27“The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?”Upon writing this verse, the saints in the Old Testament brought sacrifices in order to receive atonement, forgiveness, and for worship. This, they were required by the law of God to do, but should do so out of a grateful heart. Doing something for God out of obligation is different than doing something out of love and devotion. It would have been easy for an OT saint to bring a sacrifice and go through the motions of obedience, but do so with a wicked mind. It would be easy to do something more out of obligation than love. The same is possible today. Our sacrifice has been made once and for all (Hebrews 7:27); Amen! We do not have to make sacrifices but we ought to go to church and worship our risen Saviour. Is your worship to God out of a grateful heart or wicked mind?Do you just go through the motions or do you really love Jesus Christ?Just something to think about!
