Genesis 19:17 (KJV) And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, ESCAPE for thy life; LOOK NOT BEHIND thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; ESCAPE to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.LOOK NOT: When God says to ESCAPE from your sin but you desire to ‘Look Back’, then you’ve n e v e r repented. God’s d e s i r e for Lot and his family was to E S C A P E, which has a different meaning from ‘l e a v i n g’. The city of Sodom h e l d their souls as prisoners. Lot and his family became comfortable with all the sin that was around them. Whenever you become c o m f o r t a b l e with sin, you are a prisoner in need of r e s c u e. They were to E S C A P E the sinfulness that surrounds them but Lot’s wife just had to ‘t u r n and l o o k’ instead of just escaping. Many, will desire to l e a v e some sin but they won’t ESCAPE IT. Since they only d e p a r t e d from a sin, it’s t e m p o r a r y, and they will eventually LOOK B A C K with a heart to return to that place that satisfied their fleshly desires. Looking Back brings nothing but s h a m e and death and then your sin of looking back becomes a permanent monument of what was always in your heart.
