For those who saw the presidential trivia questions earlier:

**(1) QUESTION: **Many of our Presidents were lawyers. Which President was the first lawyer to be elected?

**ANSWER: John Adams. **He was the first of 26 Presidents to be a lawyer.

(2) QUESTION: Two Puerto Rican nationalists once tried to assassinate a President. (They were unsuccessful.) Which President?

**ANSWER: Harry S. Truman. **On November 1, 1950, the nationalists attacked the Blair House. The Trumans were staying there while the White House was undergoing renovations. The assault turned into a brief gun fight in which the two nationalists traded fire with White House policemen and Secret Service agents. The nationalists never made it inside the house, but both were shot during the attempt. One of the nationalists was killed instantly; he was shot by the one White House police officer who received a mortal wound that day. (Two other police officers were wounded, but not mortally.) The other nationalist survived his gunshot wound and was later sentenced to death. In 1952, President Truman commuted his sentence to life imprisonment. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter freed him from prison.

**(3) QUESTION: **Which President coined the term ?bully pulpit??

**ANSWER: Teddy Roosevelt. **Speaking of the presidency and a speech that he was to give to Congress, he once said: ?I suppose my critics will call that preaching, but I have got such a bully pulpit!?
