What Kind Of Peace Do You Have? John 14:27 - “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” From what Jesus says in this verse, there may be the possibility of someone gaining some kind of peace from this world. But note the peace Christ offers is “not as the world giveth”. So what kind of peace does the world offer? The peace the world gives is temporal because this world is temporal, it is passing away. 1 John 2:17 - “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” Who would desire to have a peace that is only temporary. If it is only temporary then it is also false. Jesus promises us a peace that the world can never give! His peace is eternal, because He is eternal. His peace is a peace that passes all our understanding. This world brings along with it a lot of anxieties. This world is very uncertain. The things we witness taking place leave us with questions and no answers. Jesus Christ is the answer! Philippians 4:6-7 - “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” I am glad and grateful for the promise that when anxieties come to my heart, I can pray making my requests known unto God with thanksgiving, and “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep” my heart and mind “through Christ Jesus”! Where does your peace come from? Do you have any peace at all? The greatest peace is “peace with God” that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1 - “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”. Do you have the kind of peace that Jesus offers?
