2 Timothy 4:4 - And they shall t u r n. a w a y their ears from the truth, and shall be t u r n e d unto fables. TRUTH verses FABLES: When you reject God's truth, then truth is replaced with a f a b l e that you create to satisfy your heart's desires to live your o w n life with your o w n truth. The life, that is void of God's truth, is filled with your created personalized fables, false ideas, fictitious stories, or improbable accounts of life; and finally just your version of fiction or lies about what happens after living out your sinful rebellion against God.Cain created his fictitious story that the 'works of his hands' would suffice when only the sacrificial death could atone. He knew the truth, but hated it, so he creates his personalize fable to justify himself so he wouldn't have to worship 'God's way'.All through the Bible there are accounts of people who failed to listen to the Word of God and then created their own fables to satisfy their broken and rebellious conscience. They knew what the Word of God said, and how the scriptures contradicted them, but they insisted on doing it 'their way', which creates their own personalize fable that sends the person to the depths of Hell Fire.So, you can hate the truth, but in the end, The Truth, The Lord Jesus Christ will judge your fables that you used to overthrow God's truth in your life.
