"THE GRACE OF GOD IN GROWING OLDER"
"Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth." (Psalm 71:9)
Whether we like it or not, age is one of those things that comes our way without any effort on our part. Considering myself, when I was young, I knew that I would one day age, but I had no idea how fast it would come. For me, the years have sped by like a run-away locomotive, yet I've enjoyed each day the Lord has allowed me to breathe His air.
To those of us who are getting on in years, the Lord has indeed blessed us with a long list of wonderful memories. But let's not sit around and idle our days away, rather, let's enjoy the fact that He will never leave nor forsake us.
We've learned from the Scriptures over the years and testified to the Truth that the Lord Jesus is indeed precious to us who believe (1 Peter 2:7). And you know what, folks? When the Lord thinks about us, His thoughts about us are precious to Him as well (Psalm 139:17).
God's children will always be precious to Him with their gray hair, or no hair, their aches, their pains, their failing eyesight, and their difficulty in hearing. We're still considered by Him to be useful vessels in His mighty hand.
Jesus has never had one moment while seated at the Right hand of God regretting that He saved us. Our Saviour's love has been steadfast and never wavered one bit. There's nothing we could do that would cause Him to love us more than He already does, and there will never be a day that He will love us less either.
Now, don't go buying into that nonsense that we are GETTING older; we are GROWING older like the many saints of God who lived before us. For His command is to the young and old alike, "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." (2 Peter 3:18)
God has promised His own that they will never be beggars, David said, "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." (Psalm 27:25) Oh, but He has assured His children that they will be blessed with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3).
So, to all my friends both young and older alike; by the Grace of God, let's keep Going and Growing for Jesus Christ.
