Act for America has been calling for a Voting Machine Ban since the summer leading up to the Midterm elections, inspired by our fight in Arizona and Maricopa County, where over 2.5 million actions were taken to decertify and recertify the 2020 election and ban the lawless, uncertified machines. That’s when we decided to be the first to call for a nationwide ban on all voting machines and electronic devices. Our efforts have helped kick off a multi-organizational push for the same. Effective Action for Hand-Counted Elections The most effective way to achieve hand-count elections is to deliver mass emails, phone calls, and social media posts combined with civil face-to-face hand-delivery petitions, attend local Election Administrator meetings to make public statements, and work with individual Supervisors to make this an agenda item, and raising the volunteers needed to make the hand counts possible. Remember, we must treat the Supervisors and local decision-makers as allies and partners, not enemies, in delivering hand count elections, even if they are resistant at the onset. It’s our job to prove that most local voters support and demand a voting machine ban. Proven Models and Community Engagement We must raise 1.4% of the county's registered voter population based on the German hand count voting model. In the UK, the counters count an average of 100 ballots each, costing only $.13 per ballot; we can do this!
