On July 27, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said at a Bitcoin conference that the United States must dominate the industry or China will, his latest move to court cryptocurrency advocates. The Chinese government restricts cryptocurrencies, and Trump said in an interview in 2021 that he believes Bitcoin is a "scam" that affects the value of the dollar.
