The Apollo 15 mission, landing on the Moon on July 30th, 1971, marked a significant advancement with the inclusion of the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV). The Lunar Module, named Falcon, carried astronauts David Scott and James Irwin to the lunar surface at Hadley Rille. As the seventh and eighth individuals to walk on the Moon, Scott and Irwin not only conducted moonwalks but also made history by driving the LRV. This marked the first use of a lunar rover, allowing the astronauts to cover extensive terrain, totaling more than seventeen miles during the mission.Image Credit: NASA
