Philippians 3:9 (KJV) And be found in him, NOT having mine OWN righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God BY faith: ==> “MINE OWN” OR “WHICH IS OF GOD BY FAITH” <==Your own righteousness, which is by obedience to the law, is NOT of faith. Now, read that again -- Either you possess the righteousness of Christ or you are depending upon your 'own', which is through the law. You 'own' works of righteousness can never equate to the righteousness of God.If you believe your salvation is partially through your ‘own’ righteousness (keeping the law), then you are guilty of self-righteousness which is a sin.We keep the law, not for salvation, but for our walk of faith as a Christian.Never confuse your salvation (Justification) with (Sanctification). To sanctify means to 'set apart'. Upon salvation you are to sanctify by faith. Faith in the Gospel - sets you apart from this world. This is your positional (salvation) aspect of sanctification:POSITIONAL: Acts 26:18 -- To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are s a n c t i f i e d by faith that is in me. Once saved your are s a n c t i f i e d by faith, not by the law, then God 'sets you apart' as a vessel of sanctification to be used according to his purposes.DAILY: 1 Peter 3:15 - But s a n c t i f y the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: After you are saved, you have a responsibility to be ready by sanctifying the Lord God in your hearts, which is a 'daily' action but not for your salvation. As a sanctified Christian, you are to prepare your heart and that is accomplish by reading your Bible, worship, praise, praying and following the laws of God so that your sanctification (being set apart by God) is seen and known.Never make justification and sanctification equal. When you make these two words synonymous, then you lose Bible context.
