The Preeminent Need Of Righteousness In Our Nation Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Our verse here shows us there are two ways or two paths a nation can go down; righteousness and sin. Which path would you say our nation is currently on? The word “exalteth” means to raise up. This is not so America can say we are better than other nations but so we can glorify God Almighty in our actions. Sin on the other side is a “reproach” or it brings great shame to a nation. Because of the gross immorality and the way too many sins to list in this devotion, America has become a reproach before all the world. 2 Chronicles 7:14 desperately needs to be applied to our country; “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” America desperately needs the healing that only God can bring us. But will the church, the people of God, the Christians, the people that are called by the name of Christ, that are also citizens of this great country “humble themselves, and pray, and turn from their wicked ways”?!
