On June 11, Hunter Biden was found guilty of all charges in a gun trial, becoming the first child of a sitting president to face a federal trial and conviction.
The trial centered on a Colt Cobra revolver that Biden purchased from a gun store on Oct. 12, 2018, when prosecutors said Biden was in the grips of a cocaine addiction.
Authorities allege Mr. Biden lied to a federally licensed gun store by illegally claiming on his application that he was not a drug user when he bought the gun, and then illegally possessed the gun for 11 days. Mr. Biden faces three felony charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Jurors deliberated for an hour late in the afternoon of June 10 before resuming court the next morning. They spent a total of three hours deliberating the case.
The verdict came after a week-long trial. The trial includes Biden's ex-wife Kathryn Burr, ex-girlfriend Zoe Kesten, sister-in-law and former partner Hallie Biden, daughter Naomi Biden, expert witnesses, the gun store owner and clerk who sold the gun to Biden, and the man who found the gun in the trash.
Prosecutors argue that testimony from Biden's former lovers, as well as text messages and memoir excerpts, prove that Biden was "knowingly" an active drug addict when he bought the gun in October 2018.
