Are You Changing?
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
In this text God is reminding the believer that there is a steady, good, Godly, and new change that takes place in the heart and life of anyone that is “in Christ” (born again). This change begins at the moment of salvation. It does not take place all at once, but rather over the course of the believer’s life as a Christian. I believe that God uses many things to accomplish this change. For sure the change is a work of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. But God uses many ways to bring the Word of God into our lives. We can and should read the Bible ourselves. We go to church and hear It expounded upon by the teacher or pastor/preacher. The trying of our faith also works this change as well.
If a person is saved God is steadily working to make a new creation out of that person. In time a Christian ought to be able to look back over his or her life and see some of that change. In days gone by I heard saints testify; “I am not what I used to be, and I am yet what I am going to be.”
I can remember singing as a child, “He’s still working on me. To make me what I ought to be. It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars, the sun, and the earth, and Jupiter and Mars. How loving and patient He must be. He’s still working on me.”
What changes has God made in your life recently?
