WASHINGTON POST:
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg made history with a legal case that federal prosecutors opted not to bring against the former president.
And because it was "a legal case that federal prosecutors opted not to bring against the former president," that means it never became the "federal crime" whose existence DA Bragg had said the originally alleged misdemeanors were "in the furtherance of."
So, if the Feds provably never said it was a crime, then Bragg's rationale is exposed as nakedly spurious BS with no foundation.
How can anything be in the furtherance of the non-existent?
This is why scores of even Democrat legal analysts are dumping all over this banana-republic styled process:
We have widely respected Democrat strategist and legal expert Julian Epstein saying the following to Newsweek:
"This is an outrageous case. It's an embarrassment to the legal system that this case is being brought," he said. "The theory that we heard on Monday from prosecution that this is about election interference because the Trump campaign was trying to suppress that story. Suppressing that story is not election interference. Everyone does it." - END-
We have widely respected CNN Legal Analyst and Democrat Randy Zelin saying that "The prosecution fell way short," and adding how,"There is reasonable doubt all over this case.”
-END-
And we have CNN's Senior Legal Analyst and Democrat Elie Honig who abrasively argued in NY Mag that Trump's prosecutors "contorted the law," adding that the case was "an unjustified mess" and further stating that, "A guilty verdict doesn’t make it all pure and right." -END-
And there are plenty more.
The Left's political weaponizing of law against its chief rival has opened up more than that for which the Democrat Party had bargained.
Immediately after the verdict, Trump received 50 million in donations with another 150 million pledged.
The GOP should be telling Democrats, 'Thanks for the fundraising assist!'
This undoubtably goes to SCOTUS over its 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clause violations against Trump.
