FINAL CONDEMNATION IS SET THROUGH DISBELIEF
John 3:16-18 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
What or who passes the final condemnation upon a person?
What or who secures that person an eternal future in Hell or Heaven?
Jesus told us, “he that believeth not is condemned already”. He also taught that he that “believeth on him (Jesus) is not condemned”.
And lest we forget, Jesus taught us about a literal place that He called Hell (Matthew 18:8, 9; Mark 9:43-49). Jesus illustrated Hell as a place of eternal torment by using a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem where the “worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched”.
The final condemnation of someone going to hell is determined on the basis of do they or do they not believe on Jesus Christ.
I know that the doctrine of hell is something we are hearing less and less about in church these days.
Why?
Does the thought of the existence of such a place offend you?
When you read what Jesus taught us about hell does it offend you?
The subject of hell should sober us and make us think seriously. I write this with great love and a burden for those who do not believe. May the Holy Spirit help them and the church!
