"NOTHING SHALL OFFEND THEM."
"Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." (Psalm 119:65)
Are you that type of person that is easily offended? Someone comes along and makes fun of that which you believe, or they may even start calling you names that one might only hear at closing time in a bar. Does that rub you raw? Do you become offended because of it, and you think it may consider it might be better to become one of those 'Hush-Hush type Christians. We have plenty of them running around, don't we?
This wicked world will never provide the kind of peace that offers the calmness and confidence to stand tall and true when we are taking our lumps for what we believe the Bible says. The above verse here tells us that great peace is in the very bosom of those that love God's law. Bible believers are those who know, not only what they know, but Who they know. And that last statement I just wrote gives testimony to the last part of this same verse being, "Nothing shall offend them."
Now I don't know about you, but I don't give a rat's rear end about what some Hollywood movie star or a famous sports figure has to say about anything. I'll take further and say that I put very little stock in what some political clown in Washington D.C. who stands in front of a camera while the spotlights are shining on them, smiling with that Snidey Whiplash like grin, turning a pretty phrase, but actually saying at all and telling me what's wrong in our Country. What's wrong with our Country is them! And I don't care if that money-grabbing, power-seeking, done-nothing do-nothing proud fool is a Repo, a Demo, or an Indo. You say, "Are you offended by them?" Not at all, and that's because I love the Book and it gives me the peace to withstand and overcome that which is designed to offend God's children. No brag, just fact!
When a Christian is offended, there's an absence of peace in their heart. Ah, but great peace is only found by those who love the Word of God. It is there that our questions of life and purpose are answered. It is in God's Word that we have the promises that comfort our hearts when the world is in turmoil around us. Only in the Bible do we find the assurance of who God is and His intentions for our lives and for eternity.
Those with that great peace are not easily moved to an agitated state. Their countenance gleams with that God-given peace even when circumstances aren't favorable. At times, they may fix their eyes on the trouble and drift a bit from that place of great peace, but they quickly recognize their departure and return to the Word of God and the peace it brings. Their peaceful state is a witness to others that are searching for answers.
Friends, is your life a witness of the great peace of those who love God's Word? If not, pray and ask the Lord to give you a greater love for His Word. Now there is a prayer He will delight to answer.
