"BE STILL, FOR GOD IS IN CONTROL." O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears." (1 Chronicles 17:20)David is told in the previous verses that God is the One who will build a house for David, not David for God. God promised to have David's descendent reign forever That descendent is Jesus Christ, the son of David. I doubt David understood all the implications of what God spoke to him. We can't hold that against David because we rarely understand many things as well. Still, even in our limited and sometimes faulty understanding, we are in awe that the Creator of the universe would bother with us and even honor us.Upon hearing the Word of God through Nathan, we read that moving prayer of David offered some 3,000 years ago. David began his prayer in the above verse by saying, "O LORD, there is none like thee," God is the only One Who could make such an amazing promise to David and fulfill it in ways beyond David's comprehension. Whatever our situation or need be, we too know that God is more than sufficient. As He was in David's life, God is the only One Who will forever stand behind His sure Word of promise to us and also fulfill in it ways beyond our comprehension. He is more wonderful than we can perceive. Our understanding of Him is always limited, for He is infinite. How it must sadden Him, when in the light of all He has accomplished in us and for us thru Jesus Christ, that our appreciation of Him falls so short.Friends, in those darkest of nights when a bright morning seems so distant, and while panic-stricken people are losing their minds while living in this world which is reeling with uncertainty, Bible believers can rest assured that God is still on His Throne in Heaven and He is hearing our cries and handling our cares because as always, He has everything under control.
