Far Better!Philippians 1:23 - “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:” The Apostle Paul was nearing the end and what he saw by faith before him was “far better” than anything he saw around him or behind him in the past. This world ought not to have a stronghold on any of God’s children. The Bible gives us plenty to think about and rejoice over when we study over the truth of heaven, but to me it is hard to find a better description than what Paul gives here in this verse. Heaven is “to be with Christ; which is far better”. More than once in my visits and conversations with my mom, this is the promise I would share with her; “Mom, I can promise you on the authority of God’s Word that there is a far better day coming than today.” Think of it!! If you are having the best day ever, there is a “far better” day still to come!! If you are having a hard, difficult, sad, bad, or a dark day, the promise stands true “to be with Christ… is far better”! To be with Christ! There is the truth that makes heaven “far better”! All the other things and even people who wait for us there are not equal to the fact that we will be “with Christ”. He promised in John 14:2-3 - “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” What a promise! It is not the mansion that makes heaven “far better”. It is the promise that Christ said, “that where I am, there ye may be also”! May your day and mine be filled with the promise that as a Christian, in heaven we will be with Christ! That my Christian friend is “far better”!
