The main evidence that a Christian is truly a child of God, is that they follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. We receive instructions from God, through the Holy Spirit. To turn down those instructions is to disobey God. Children are not to disobey their father. Obedience is part of an expression of our faith in God. We cannot just claim with our mouths that we are children of God. We have to live it in our lives to, as a result of the salvation we received.
