"GOD REMEMBERS SIN NO MORE."
"And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." (Jeremiah 31:34)
When we trust the Lord Jesus for salvation, we receive the forgiveness of sins. The condemnation we once lived under is now gone. We know Him as the God of Grace and Mercy Who erased our sins and transgressions from His memory. What a joyful justification we enjoy now and forevermore.
How perfectly worded is this promise given whereby, even a young child can comprehend it. Does God forget? He says He will, and He means what He says. He will regard us as though we had never sinned. The great atonement so effectually removed all sin, that it is to the mind of God no more in existence. The believer is now in Christ Jesus and has been accepted in the Beloved.
Our faithful God will not remember our sins to punish us, or to love us one iota less because of them. When a debt has paid, it ceases to be a debt, even so doth the Lord make a complete obliteration of the iniquity of His people. It was paid in full.
Our brooding over past sins and transgressions calling them to mind must weary our Lord. It seems as though we want to remember the past when He has forgotten it. Where's the victory in that kind of nonsense?
Friends, we can rejoice that our names are now written in Heaven's Book, and for nearly 2,000 years, Jesus has been preparing a place for you and me. No longer linger over that foul stench of sin we once were guilty of, for God remembers it no more!
